Look Back to Move Forward!
Register for SF Connection, Wednesday April 22
10am Pacific, 12pm Central, 1pm Eastern
You bring what's on your desk. We work through it together.
You have a student you haven't been able to reach. A teacher who's given up. A parent who's convinced nothing will work. SF Connection is where you find the question that changes the conversation - with your real cases, live, every month.
One free live Zoom session every month, September-May
1st Wednesday, 12-1pm Central Time
Certificate of Attendance with 1 CEU per session, free for live attendees
For counselors, teachers & school staff
I pick one topic each month - a type of student, a common challenge, a technique I've seen change how a conversation goes - and we work through it live. I demonstrate. I walk through a real conversation. Then you ask questions.
This is not a lecture. What I bring is a question or two that you probably haven't tried yet, and a case that shows exactly how to use them.

I walk through a real case conversation and show the exact questions I'd use - so you leave knowing what to say, not just what to think.

Bring your hardest case. We work through it together, live. This is where SF Connection becomes specific to the student sitting on your desk right now.

Live attendees receive a Certificate of Attendance with 1 CEU, at no charge. Premium members can also earn CEUs from the growing archive.

Every session closes with one or two specific things to notice or ask - low-stakes, practical, and sized for a real working schedule.
Free members attend the monthly training session live and earn their CEU. Premium members get that session plus a second one - a working consultation where you bring your actual cases. Sessions run during the school year, September through May.
One hour with Linda. One topic. A demonstration, discussion, and time for your questions. This session earns 1 CEU for live attendees.
A working session for Premium members. Bring the cases that are sitting on your desk - the student you haven't reached, the parent conversation you're dreading. We work through them live with Linda. Attendees earn 1 CEU.

For more than 30 years, Dr. Linda Metcalf has been the pioneer who transformed solution-focused brief therapy into a practical school counseling approach. A Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, TEDx speaker, and Professor of Graduate Counseling Programs at Texas Wesleyan University, she's the author of 11 books - including the best-seller Counseling Toward Solutions - and created the only comprehensive certification program for solution-focused school counseling.
"Every student is the expert on themself. Our job isn't to provide the answers - it's to ask the questions that help students discover the solutions that are inside of them."
SF Connection was created on a Saturday morning in March 2020, when the world seemed to be closing down and school counselors were writing to me in fear, asking, “What do we do now?”
I had never led a Zoom meeting or taught online, but I could hear the panic in their messages, and I knew I could not leave my colleagues alone in that moment. I believed then, as I believe now, that students are never unreachable. We just have to change the doorway.
So I put together ten simple slides on solution focused school counseling, and invited a small email list to join me the next Wednesday.
Within an hour, 50 people had signed up.
What began as an emergency response became a community.
Through COVID and in the years since, thousands of counselors and educators have gathered to remember that hope finds a way, that
small conversations can change lives, and even in the hardest circumstances, we can reach students.
SF Connection was born from my loyalty to school counselors, educators, students and to the belief that even when the world shuts down, we can still find a way to reach one another.
When I use the Solution Focused Approach in my current practice, my days are full of more joy.
Both tiers give you access to the monthly live session and a CEU. Premium adds the consultation, the archive, and the resources - for practitioners who want to go further.

I really appreciate that you offer these free sessions. It's great to have some ongoing PD that I can put into practice the same day without having to create lessons ahead of ahead of time.
You are amazing, and I am now a far more effective counselor thanks to you!
These have been great sessions, looking forward to next years!
Two live sessions a month - each earning a CEU - recording access, a growing archive, and direct consultation with Linda Metcalf on your most challenging cases. We work through them together. You leave with a way forward.
This was my first session. Linda giving examples of the language to use was very beneficial for me. It helped me better understand how to apply it to my current practice.
I skipped our end-of-the-year luncheon to attend SF Connection because I learn something new each time, it refills my tank, and gives me hope that I can become a better school counselor.
