School counselor Alison Greene looking forward with hope and confidence as the new year approaches, surrounded by evidence of meaningful work

Don't Look Back!

December 15, 20251 min read

As the final stretch of the school year peeks over the horizon, it’s tempting to glance in the rearview mirror and revisit everything that didn’t quite go as planned.

But here’s a gentle reminder... don’t look back, you aren’t going that way.

You’ve made it this far. And that’s something to honor.

There are still a few months ahead in this school year, and they hold incredible possibility. So take a moment, not to dwell, but to reflect.

Reflect on what worked. On where you made a difference.

Think about...

  • That student who challenged you... and who stayed in your thoughts because you just knew she had potential

  • The teacher who came to you worn out, and how your encouragement helped him see things a little differently

  • The parent who pushed every button you had and how you found a way to shift the conversation toward what their child could become

Those moments matter. They’re the compass for where you're going next.

So as you prepare for 2026, let your map be made of...

  • The ways you connected

  • The strengths you saw

  • The hope you modeled

Because that’s the road you’re on now.

And I, for one, can’t wait to see where you go.
