This program will provide an introduction to solution focused counseling and its application to the school setting, providing school counselors of all levels, information to assist the implementation of the solution focused approach to school concerns for students, teachers and parents.
Program Content
Apply the solution focused approach with any student dealing with an academic concern
Prepare for a team meeting where the student is present and involved in solution building with teachers, promoting a systemic intervention.
Define the solution focused principals to creating a classroom guidance activity.
Manage a crisis situation using the solution focused approach as a means of assisting those involved to develop coping skills and safety measures for dealing with the current situation.
Maintain a supportive approach to working with school clients without increasing school client dependency and instead, promoting personal competence.
